“VOICE OF THE NEW AGE”
In the panorama of the torchbearers of mankind's journey towards the next frontier, we often forget to acknowledge a silent accomplice, always present, always assisting.
A figure that resides not in the physical realm but in the digital.
A figure that dissents and disappoints, but assists and applauds.
Meet this interactive magic, a creature of numbers, codes, and algorithms, and an inextricable part of our evolving landscape.
One can't help but admit, the melody seems to be waning.
What is it? Is it…
The Summon?
The excitement?
The Speech?
The Disappointment?
The Distance?
However, all of it can rekindle with just one voice command.
We all have joked about it. Soaked the weather report on it. Even enslaved it to remind us about living life.
Let’s start by asking…

THE HISTORY OF SIRI.
As we wander in our quest for the next big innovation, we often overlook the magic happening right under our noses, within our palms.
Can you picture the creation of an AI assistant that knows your preferences, answers your queries, and even makes your appointments, all powered by your voice?
"Dear User, your world is about to be revolutionized."
It's everyone's accomplice...
Its various capabilities and knowledge base alter your interaction with technology, making your experience more personalized and enjoyable...
And yet it disappoints to the greatest extent…
SIRI.
In the present era, Siri stands as an epitome of technological innovation, manifesting the spirit of continuous improvement and ingenious design.
The birth of Siri in 2011 was not the result of some sudden enlightenment but a logical progression of efforts put forth by a dedicated team of engineers at Apple Inc.
But the road was not smooth; every beacon of change has its share of daunting hurdles.
The melody grew louder with each passing day, and the source was none other than Siri Inc., an audacious startup.
EPOCH TIMELINE OF SIRI:
Siri: The Overture (2007-2010)
In the vast symphony of technological evolution, the year 2007 echoed with a note that would go on to define the course of voice assistants.
Siri Inc, a daring startup nestled in the heart of Silicon Valley, was born from the intellect and ambition of the SRI International Artificial Intelligence Center, a crucible of innovation in the field of AI. The founders, Dag Kittlaus, Adam Cheyer, and Tom Gruber, brought with them a vision: a future where technology assists not with intrusive beeps and burdensome processes, but through fluid, natural conversation.
This trifecta of talent was not embarking on a frivolous venture, but a mission of great consequence. In three years, through countless lines of code and ceaseless iterations of machine learning models, they inched closer to their dream.
And then, in the chilly dawn of February 2010, Siri was unveiled to the world, not as a monumental hardware innovation, but as a modest iOS application. It was not the platform that astounded the public, but its capabilities.
It harnessed the power of Natural Language Processing (NLP) – a domain still novel to many outside the tech sphere.
Yet, the statistics spoke for themselves. Downloads soared as people flocked to experience this strange new AI that could understand, respond, and assist in ways previously confined to the realm of science fiction.
The tech titan, always in pursuit of the extraordinary, found itself drawn to the boundless potential nestled within this app. It was not just software; it was a seedling of a revolution, and it had sprouted in the fertile soil of the iOS ecosystem….
Siri: The Crescendo (2010)
The brilliance of Siri didn't go unnoticed by the maestro of Apple Inc, Steve Jobs. In April 2010, Siri Inc was acquired by Apple, marking a significant turning point in the saga. With Jobs' visionary guidance and Apple's technological prowess, Siri was poised to shake the world on a grand scale.
The Launch: An Epoch Begins (2011)
On October 4, 2011, Siri was introduced to the world as a feature of the iPhone 4S. In Jobs' absence, Apple’s Senior Vice President, Scott Forstall, unveiled Siri, marking a revolutionary shift in human-device interaction.
Siri had come a long way from its inception. Its integration into iOS as a built-in feature and its ability to understand and respond to natural language was hailed as the dawn of a new era.
Mourning the Maestro: Steve Jobs (2011-2013)
A week after the release of Siri, the world mourned the loss of a titan. Steve Jobs, the visionary behind Apple's greatest innovations, passed away. However, his legacy and spirit lived on in the breakthrough technologies he championed. Siri, the voice-activated assistant, would remain a testament to his belief in the power of innovation.
Privacy KILLED Siri.
Today, Siri stands as a testament to Apple's commitment to revolutionizing human-device interaction. Despite trials and tribulations, it has persisted and continues to improve, promising an exciting future as it ushers in new forms of digital interaction. But Privacy has been the bottleneck of Siri’s incompetence in being a “smart” AI assistant.
Apple doesn’t store your information. No data is uploaded to the cloud to analyze and train models according to your requirement; this one value proposition sold to Apple users is the biggest glottal stop for Siri.
Privacy. iPhone’s shining armour is Siri’s biggest threat and ultimately kills the utility of Siri.
Who says AI don’t cry?
Look at Siri
It won’t respond to “Hey, Siri” now…Just “Siri”.

ACE THE SPACES
Siri’s Competitive Advantages are like a hidden melody in a bustling symphony.
You have to listen closely to comprehend, why Siri is such a force to be reckoned with, even in the face of strong competition.
No other AI assistant can tarnish the industry-proven design and functionality of Siri.
THE COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE OF SIRI.
Siri was more than just another voice-based AI. It was a vanguard of Apple's distinctive philosophy – the seamless interweaving of technology, design, and user experience.
A reflection of Steve Jobs' credo that,
"Design is not just what it looks like and feels like. Design is how it works."
Siri's competitive edge derived from its pioneering Natural Language Processing capabilities, an achievement that represented a significant leap in the realm of artificial intelligence.
This tech marvel demonstrated an understanding of the linguistic nuances and a contextual comprehension of queries.
With Siri, conversations with your device were no longer just command-based but started to take on the form of genuine human interaction.
At the time of its introduction, competitors were largely confined to voice recognition functionality. Siri, however, was far more advanced. It could engage in dialogue, learn from interactions, and even showcase a touch of personality. Siri was designed to be more than a digital assistant; it was a companion, learning, growing, and adapting to each user's unique needs and preferences.
The release of Siri also marked a shift in consumer expectations for their devices. The need for a user manual was rendered obsolete, replaced by a conversational interface that understood and responded to naturally spoken requests. The assistant was as intuitive as a helpful friend, always at your side, ready to assist, inform, or amuse.
In essence, Siri's competitive advantage was not just its remarkable AI technology but also its embodiment of Apple's user-centric design philosophy. Siri was a harbinger of a new era, heralding a world where devices would understand humans rather than humans needing to understand devices. This shift, this revolution, this symphony of interaction was the music of Siri, forever changing the melody of our digital lives.
The (K)inK.
We tried reaching out to Craig Federighi, Apple’s senior vice president of Software Engineering to add some experiences, incidents, insights and vision for Siri. Unfortunately, we couldn’t get a response…
But we got our hands on an AIclusive gem. Here, experience it yourself:
“Artificial Intelligence (AI) breathes life into modern business solutions, and Siri – Apple's very own AI assistant – is a pioneering example. It echoes the innovation spirit of the Romans, employing available technology to address complex challenges.
In the panorama of 'actionable curiosity,' Siri emerges as a champion, an iOS gem, curating a tailored user experience. Like Adobe's Scene Stitch leveraging AI for creative outcomes, Siri uses AI for understanding and responding to natural language, paving the path for interaction innovation.
